Composites

Digital composite photography is a skill and interest of mine which I enjoy utilising to undertake projects which are not possible using traditional single shot photography. This can mean that the environment is logistically not possible to photograph in a single frame, or the project explores a subject, such as time, which is explored through the use of more than one exposure per image.

Untitled #1, 2023

Composite techniques utilised to create a larger and flatter image as the subject is placed in the corner of a small room.

Activity at the Bus Stop Last Week, 2023

A composite street scene photograph that captures the activity of a busy urban environment. The photograph is a high-resolution panorama of a bus stop and its immediate surroundings.

Over the course of a week, a series of photographs of the scene were captured from a bedroom window. Including, of course, people waiting for the bus, as well as everyday moments like a child on their grandfather's shoulders or the washing being put out to dry. Each image was carefully selected and stitched into the original panorama, creating a rich tapestry of urban life that is hopefully dynamic and engaging.

The result is a vivid and realistic depiction of life in the city, highlighting the vibrancy of the urban landscape. 'Activity at the Bus Stop Last Week' is a testament to the power of composite photography in capturing the energy of urban life.
